1. Overview

Flight Follower (the "App") helps you view and identify aircraft and see nearby aircraft using aviation data and iOS features.

We aim to collect as little data as possible. We do not sell personal information.

2. Information We Collect

A. Location Information (optional)

If you grant Location Services permission, the App may access approximate or precise location to:

  • show aircraft near you,
  • compute relative positioning (e.g., "closest aircraft"),
  • power features like Live Activities / live alerts that depend on your current area.

Location retention: We do not store a long-term location history by default. We may process your current location transiently to provide these features.

You can disable Location Services at any time in iOS Settings.

B. Analytics Data (PostHog)

We use PostHog to understand how the App is used and to improve performance and features. PostHog receives analytics events (for example, feature usage, screens viewed, button taps, and related event properties) and may also receive device/app information associated with those events.

PostHog (like many analytics systems) can process technical metadata such as IP address and may derive approximate location from IP unless you configure it not to.

Analytics choice: If we provide an in-app analytics toggle, you can opt out and the App will stop sending analytics events. PostHog also provides mechanisms to control/disable collection.

C. Push Notifications (planned / optional)

If you opt in to push notifications in the future, we will collect and store:

  • an APNs device token (a technical identifier required to deliver push notifications), and
  • your notification preferences (for example, which alerts you want).

We will use this information only to send the notifications you request.

D. Support Communications (optional)

If you contact us (email/support), we receive the information you choose to share (such as your email address and message).

3. How We Use Information

We use the information above to:

  • provide core App functionality (including "nearby aircraft" features),
  • improve the App (analytics and troubleshooting),
  • send push notifications (if/when you enable them),
  • respond to support requests,
  • maintain security and prevent abuse.

4. Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information.

We share limited information only with:

  • Service providers that help us operate the App (e.g., analytics provider PostHog, hosting/logging infrastructure), strictly to provide services on our behalf.
  • Legal/Compliance when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

No ads / no third-party advertising tracking: We do not use your data for third-party targeted advertising, and we do not share your data with data brokers.

5. Third-Party Services

The App may use third-party services, including:

  • PostHog (analytics).
  • Apple services such as iOS APIs (including notifications when enabled).

These providers may process information under their own privacy policies.

6. Data Retention

We keep data only as long as reasonably necessary:

  • Analytics data: retained per our PostHog/project retention settings,
  • Notification tokens/preferences (future): retained until you disable notifications, uninstall the App (when known), or request deletion,
  • Support messages: retained as needed to address your issue and for reasonable recordkeeping.

7. Your Choices

You can:

  • disable Location Services for the App in iOS Settings,
  • (when available) opt out of analytics in the App,
  • disable push notifications in iOS Settings (future),
  • request deletion of information we can reasonably associate with you by contacting us.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the Effective date above and, if changes are material, provide notice in the App or on our website.
